The visitors took the lead jut before the break when a trialist put the finishing touches to a fine move. Play-OFF  2nd Leg Friday 12th June 2009 Moor Park, Lanark

LANARK UNITED 2 GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 0

Lanark wn 3-2 on aggregate

The game in many respects was very similar to the 1st leg at Loch Park with Lanark the livelier of the two sides. The first half ended goalless primarily due to a point blank save from Chris Fahey at one end and a glancing header by Craig Feroz at the other that flashed wide of target. The Glens who had already been forced to replace injured defender Gordon Moffat with a trialist were reduced to 10 men just minutes before the break after Jamie Doyle received a second yellow card for dissent. Half-time: Lanark 0 Glens 0.

The Glens replaced Simon Eeles with a  trialist at the start of the half and the visitors went on to enjoy their best spell of the game in the opening 15 minutes of the half. Paul McMullan made a great run down the right and burst into the box but the Lanark defenders got back in time to block his shot at goal. Craig Feroz outjumped both his markers but his header hit the underside of the bar with the goalkeeper rooted to the spot. McMullan then did brilliantly to get to the dead ball line but his cut back was cut off before any damage could be done. Lanark weathered the storm and 11 men began to dominate in terms of possession and chances created, many of which ended with high balls into the box which Fahey gathered with ease. On 66 minutes the home side pressure paid off and Lanark took the lead from close range. The 10 men Glens dug in and an Andy Ward header caused panic in the home defence. With 4 minutes to go Lanark were reduced to 10 men after Feroz was brought down for the umpteenth time.  The game appeared to be heading for a penalty shoot-out before the home side were awarded a penalty in the 89th minute and Fahey was sent the wrong way to end the Glens seven season spell in the West Region Superleague Premier Division.
Full time Lanark 2 Glens 0

Congratulations and good luck to Lanark in the top flight.
Come Awa' the Afton.

Stagecoach Super League Premier Division : Pollok vs. Glenafton Athletic

POLLOK 2 GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 1

Scorer : McMullan

Glens looked to have taken the lead through a Steven McGregor header but it'll come us no surprise to many that this wasn't in the script and it was flagged for offside. Pollok took the lead when the ball fell kindly for Andy Essler who spotting Chris Fahey off his line lobbed the ball over the keeper's his head from 25 yards out for a fantastic finish. Fahey would later make a great save from the same player from a closer range, while his counterpart Kris Robertson equalled that with a point blank save from Craig Feroz. Glens lost captain Willie Howie through injury and he was replaced by Dale Beattie (trialist). The visitors continued to threaten and drew level after Dougie Ramsay played a one-two with Chris Zok and rolled the ball into the box for Paul McMullan who without breaking his stride burst into the box and fired low into Robertson's far corner.Ten minutes from the break the home side went ahead when Dingwall headed home a corner kick from six yards out. Both teams had chances in the second half but there was to be no further scoring and despite a performance that was well worthy of a point the Glens are in the play-off.

Glenafton Athletic vs. Auchinleck Talbot : Stagecoach Super League Premier Division

GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 1 AUCHINLECK TALBOT 5

Scorer: McMullan

Fine build up play  from  Chic Connolly, Willie Howie and Dougie Ramsay took the ball from flank to flank to set up Paul McMullan to fire the Glens ahead. The home side were well on top for most of the half but couldn't add to their tally. The second half followed a similar pattern until Talbot drew level around the hour mark through David Gillies which sparked a grandstand finish by the visitors. Goals from Sean McIlroy and Danny McKelvie put the Talbot in the control. Gillies added two more,  either side of a straight red card for Joe Savage, to complete his hat-trick and the Talbot rout.

Bellshill Athletic vs. Glenafton Athletic : Super League Premier Division

Bellshill Athletic 2 Glenafton Athletic 2

Scorers: Feroz, Savage

Bellshill blasted out of the blocks and were 2-0 up with less than six minutes on the clock through goals by two former Glens players. On 3 minutes the visitors lost possession near the half way line giving Stuart Tullis a free run in on goal and he slotted the ball past the advancing Fahey with ease. Three minutes later Willie Howie conceded a penalty and Paul McBride sent Fahey the wrong way from the spot kick. The Glens fought back with some style and pulled one back on 14 minutes. Good build up play by Chic Connolly and Jamie Doyle set up Craig Feroz in the box who turned and fired home through a crowded penalty area to beat Scott McNab at his near post. On 27 minutes a Doyle cross was headed back across the goal mouth by Paul McMullan and Joe Savage beat defender and keeper to head home the equaliser. Both sides had chances to add to their tally but there was to be no further scoring after the early goalfest.

Irvine Meadow vs. Glenafton Athletic : Super League Premier Division

IRVINE MEADOW 2 GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 0

Chris Strain (junior) beat the offside trap to put the home side ahead. The Glens came close to equalising through Sinon Eeles but his effort struck the post and the rebound went a-begging much to the relief of with Wardrop in the Meadow goals. A late second half strike from David Hamilton sealed the points for the XI men.
