Maybole Juniors vs. Glenafton Athletic: Super League 1st Division

MAYBOLE JUNIORS 3 GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 2

Scorers : Eeles, Scoular

The home side started brightly with their only reward a series of corners one of which in the 16th minute came close to breaking the deadlock but the free header sailed over the bar. The Glens then back to exert their authority on the match with Brian Miller and Simon Eeles tormenting the home defence.  It was SIMON EELES on 22 minutes that gave the central defence the slip and kept his composure to guide his shot home from 12 yards out beyond the outstretched advancing goalkeeper. His counterpart Ally Semple foiled two good attempts at restoring parity before the Glens extended their lead four minutes before the break. Miller picked out Michael Hart on the 6 yard line but his shot blocked and the ball rebounded to the penalty spot where young AARON SCOULAR quickly left-pegged it into the top corner of the net to his great delight and for his first goal for Glenafton. HT Maybole 0 Glens 2

The Glens were firmly in the driving seat and in the opening minutes of the half Eeles and Craig Feroz (on for Miller) fired just wide of target to justify the claim. However, on 53 minutes the wheels began to come off as Maybole's centre half headed home a corner-kick. Four minutes later Maybole missed a sitter to draw level and then another with 15 minutes to go. Gordon Moffat earned a second yellow card on 78 minutes as Maybole pressure intensified, with sub Paul Kerr causing havoc in the visitors defence. Maybole spurned another good opportunity before they too were reduced to 10 men on 84 minutes for a second yellow card offence followed swiftly by a straight red card for comments made by the offender. Against the run of play Feroz forced a great save from the home keeper with 2 minutes of normal time remaining but a minutes late Paul Kerr headed home the equaliser from a few yards out as the Glens claimed for offside, Dougie Ramsay receiving a second yellow for his protestations. No doubt about the winner in added on time when a great turn in the box followed by a low driven shot into the far corner to complete memorable Maybole fight back FT Maybole 3 Glens 2

Glens: Semple, Ramsay, Moffat, Mullen, Wilson; Eeles, Clapperton, Scoular (Middleton) ; Miller (Feroz), Hart
