Ashfield vs. Glenafton Athletic: Super League 1st Division

Scorers: Feroz, Trialist (Livingston)

The Glens fell behind on the 11 minutes to a well struck free-kick from 20 yards out by Mark Thomson. Jose Quitongo came close to hitting back immediately . However, it was the home side that doubled their lead two minutes later after keeper Ally Semple slipped on the Saracen Park surface and could nothing to prevent a speculative shot from Craig Smith sneaking home at his far post. The remainder of the half was less eventful with both sides evenly matched and  Michael Hart creating the best of the Glens half-chances. HT Ashfield 2 Glens 0

Both sides continued to be evenly matched for most of the second half although Ashfield did look the much livelier. Two substitutions ultimately turned the tide in the visitors' direction with the introduction firstly of David Clapperton and then later trialist Stuart Livingston  in midfield . Clapperton was involved in the best Glens' move of the game initiated by Chic Connolly in the right back slot and the ball passed from one flank to the other before  Craig Feroz slotted it home from the diagonal of the six yard box with 10 minutes of the game remaining. The good work was almost undone but Semple pulled off a super save at full stretch to turn a Smith effort beyond the post for a corner. The Glens drew level in the last minute of the regulation ninety when the ball was hammered low and hard by Stewart Livingston through a crowded penalty box and although the keeper appeared to have it covered the ball squirmed under his body and over the line. Both sides had chances to seal the points in added-on time most. FT Ashfield 2 Glens 2
