Glenafton Athletic vs. Annbank United: Super League 1st Division

GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 2 ANNBANK UNITED 3

Scorers: MacDonald (2)

The Glens campaign in the Super League First Division got off to a disappointing start with a defeat at home to Annbank United. It started well for the home side taking the lead in 14 minutes through a flashing header by JAMIE MacDONALD from a Brain Miller corner kick. The Glens had a goal by Craig Feroz disallowed for offside and passed up a few chances to extend their lead before Annbank equalised with a well placed header by Mick McCann  7 minutes before the break to take the teams in level at half time. Glens 1 Annbank1

The visitors should have taken the lead soon after the re-start but Neil McGinn's shot crashed off the bar when it looked easier to score. Having survived Annbank pressure JAMIE MacDONALD restored the Glens lead when he finished off a fine passing moving with a cracking shot from the edge of the box. However, the visitors hit back with goals from Colin Roach and Jim Wilson in the last ten minutes to take all three points back to New Pebble Park. Glens 2 Annbank 3

Glens: Semple; Murray, Gow, Merrilees, Wilson; Miller, Middleton, MacDonald, Eeles; Feroz, Hart. Subs, Moffat, Quinn and Quitongo
