AUCHINLECK TALBOT 1 GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 2
Scorers : Connolly (pen), QuitongoThe Glens quickly put behind them the loss of an early goal and took the game to Talbot at God's Little Acher! New signing Jose Quitongo was proving a handful for the Talbot defence as they were left chasing their tales, not literally of course. Six minutes before the break former Glens defender Liam McVey failed to deal with a Jose turn in the box and clumsily upended the front man. Chic Connolly stepped up and picked his spot with great aplomb to deservedly restore parity. After the break both keepers played their part in keeping it that way and although the Talbot were creating most of the chances they lacked finesse in front of goal to the increasing frustration of the subdued home support. Speaking of finesse the Glens took the lead in 68th minute when Alan Middleton lifted the ball over the heads of Colllins, Pettigrew and McVey to release Jose in the box. As the Talbot trio gave chase the wee man back tracked and lobbed the ball back over the trio's heads to the edge of the box and lashed the ball past them low into the corner of the net with the Talbot goalie gobsmacked. The Glens were reduced to 10 men when one of the impressive trailist's received a second yellow card . Once again the visitors overcame adversity and to a man defended with great determination and young keeper Ally Semple redeemed himself with some stunning saves and the 10 men Glens held on for a thoroughly merited victory.
