Glenafton Athletic vs. Petershill: Stagecoach Super League Premier Division

GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 1 PETERSHILL 2

Scorer: Feroz

Petershill took the lead in under 4 minutes when Stephen McGowan beat the Glens offside trap and ran on to loft the ball over keeper Chris Fahey and into the net. Minutes later the goalscorer was fortunate to escape the wrath of the referee after a late late tackle on Fahey.  A Craig Feroz header flashed past the Peasy post  the Glens tried to get back on level terms. On 18 minutes Petershill were awarded a penalty after Kieran McAleenan tumbled in the box and although Fahey got his hand to Jamie McCarroll's spot kick the ball hit the underside of the bar and dropped over the line. Ten minutes later Joe Savage escaped the octopus-like clutches of former Glens player Gerry Joyce to head the ball beyond Parry, but his defender was well placed to head the ball off the line. The remainder of the scrappy half was deviod of any further goalmouth incidents of note.   Half time Glens 0 Peasy 2

The Glens started the second period brightly and keeper Parry was looking less assured as he had to scurry across his goal-line on more than one occasion as balls to the back post caused panic in the Peasy defence. On 55 minutes the keeper  flapped at a Feroz header at the edge of the box but was able to save his blushes and the ball at the second attempts the Glsn failed to capitalise. Soon after the visitors were almost out of sight when a fine passage of passing play  ended with an Alan Lindsay shot from close range rebounding off the base of Fahey's near post. At the other end Andy Gow came close from one of a host of the Glens corner-kicks but his shot from the edge of the six yard box went just wide. With 15 minutes remaining Petershill paisd the prices for their persistent fouling  and Michaell Keenan's  two yellows cards saw him walk. Parry then denied the Glens when he scrambled away  a Gow header from another Glens corner. The keeper could do nothing to prevent Craig Feroz from prodding home a  Paul McMullan cross with a minute of regulation time remaining. Sadly there was to be no repeat of the game at Petershill where the Glens had come back from 2-0 down with two minutes remaining and the Bull's goal on this occasion was merely a consolation.
