AUCHINLECK TALBOT 2 GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 1
The Talbot took an early lead on 7 minutes when McKelvie was first to react to a quickly taken free-kick and beat Chris Fahey in the Glens goals. The keeper then pulled off a great save and Jamie Doyle cleared one off the line as the home side sought to double their advantage. Conditions underfoot deteroriated as both sides battled on. Three minutes from the break Doyle receiveds a straight red card after a collision with Pettigrew much to the astonishment of the visitors and a few of the home side as well. With the odds stacked against them the Glens fought back and just before the interval defender Gordon Moffat got on the end of a corner kick to slam home the equaliser. Half time Talbot 1 Glenafton 1
Talbot put their numerical advantage to good use in the second half but could not break down the Glens defence. The Beechwood bog began to take it's toll and defenders Moffat and Chris Meerilees had to be replaced as did striker Joe Savage who had picked up an injury in the mid-week friendly against Ashfield. Although the Talbot continued to press, their own defence was exposed on more on one occasion by the pace of Simon Eeles. The 10 men looked to have secured a point but at the death Pettigrew picked up the loose ball from a goalmouth scramble and thundered an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net to bring the the Glens unbeaten league run to an end and move Talbot five points clear of the play-off place.
