GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 2 Saltcoats Victoria 0
Scorers: Brown, Cassidy
New signing Ryan Scobie partnered Gavin Brown up front with Darren Johnstone again dropping back to the centre of defence, alongside John Kane. Although Scobie looked lively throughout it was Brown that eventually broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when he latvhed on to a long clearance from Gary Matthews to lash the ball home.
Half-time Glenafton Athletic 1 Saltcoats Vics 0
At the start of the second half Gary Matthews made way for Alan Morrison to make his debut in goal for the Glens. He was seldom called upon which was in stark contrast to his counterpart Gary Fulton. The Vics goalie denied Brown a second goal with a great save and made a number of other timely interventions to keep the score-line at 1-0. The Glens effectively laid siege to the Vics goals in the closing 10 minutes but could not add to their tally until the closing minute when Paul Cassidy pounced on some slack defending at the edge of the box and calmly slotted the ball beyond Fulton.
The Glens now meet Craigmark at Dalmellington in the 2nd Round next week.
