Lugar had started their Rockware League Cup campaign with a rousing comeback against Kello at Rosebank, coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2. The Glens made a number of changes to the team that started the game against Muirkirk, with Quinn, Howie, and Connolly all making the starting 11; whilst trialist Brian Mulgrew from Gretna paired up in the centre of defence with John McCaig, in place of his former team-mate Liam Paterson.
The home-side took an early leaded through Pat Lopez but Darren Johnstone got the Glens back on level terms soon after. Zander Allan then put the Glens in front, but was later injured and replaced by Scott Caldwell. Lugar fought back and equalised through Darren McMahon, however the Glens edged in front again, with Scott Caldwell scoring his first competitive goal for the club.
Willie Howie, was then shown a straight red card for an incident in which the Glens were initially awarded the free-kick, and Howie was adjudged to have retaliated.
The 10-men went on to extend their lead after
Willie Howie, received a second red card after the match whilst further protesting his innocence; he will receive a 4 match ban, beginning after the Kello game.
