GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 2 HUTCHISON VALE 3

The Glens nearly got off to a dream start with a goal in the opening minute of this cup final but it was Hutchie Vale that broke the deadlock in 10 minutes. A well taken corner-kick into the heart of the Glens' box was slammed home. The Glens' heads never went down and every boy on the park played their part as the team fought its way back into the game with a goal in the dying seconds of the half. A cracking volley beyond the reach of outstretched Hutchie goale, by Dale 'Gunner' Moore, one of the smallest players in the team, and with one of the biggest smiles on the planet as he celebrated his goal in the Scottish Cup Final. Half-Time : Glens 1 Hutchie Vale 1
The second half was almost a mirror image of the first with the Glens enjoying the lions share of possesion, whilst Hutchie always threatened on the break with some exceptionally strong running forwards in their team. Indeed it was from a break and strong run down the left that Hutchie would take the lead once again, early in the second half. Again every boy in the Glens team gave their all in an attempt to secure an equaliser . Their hopes were cruelly dashed when another Hutchie break, down the right time, made it 3-1 in the last minute of the game. This time the young Glens' heads did go down, but only momentarily, as the fourth official indicated there would be 5 minutes added time. A great through ball split the Hutchie defence and Jordan Kelly gathered the ball and at the end of lung-bursting run calmly slotted the ball beyond the advancing Hutchie goalie. It was during another Glens attack that the referee blew the final whistle. Final Score Glens 2 Hutchie 3
The young Glens team picked up their medals to a standing ovation from the Glens fans who had travelled through to Airdrie in great numbers. Then like true champions these young boys, 'the pride of all New Cumnock', stood and applauded as Hutchison Vale lifted the Scottish Cup,
